I was listening to the Phone Guy's calls in FNAF 2 and took note of the things he said. He mentions an unnamed incident that occurs and talks the player through it as the nights go by. How the incident plays out is very similar to how the Missing Children Incident plays out. I'll explain:
Night 3, 'I wanted to ease your mind about any rumors you might have heard lately': These rumours concern the children that have recently been reported as missing.
Night 4, 'Ok, so uh, just to update you, uh, there's been somewhat of an, uh, investigation going on': An investigation occurs after the children have been reported missing.
Night 5, 'Um, from what I understand, the building is on lockdown, uh, no one is allowed in or out, y'know, especially concerning any...previous employees.' and 'Um, when we get it all sorted out, we may move you to the day shift, a position just became...available.': The suspect has been found. They appear to be an ex-employee, since 'previous employees' aren't allowed in the building and a new position has been made available.
Night 6, '...the place is closed down, uh, at least for a while. Someone used one of the suits. We had a spare in the back, a yellow one, someone used it...': The police confirm that the criminal used one of the mascots to kidnap/kill the children.
What do you think? I think things tie up quite well.
